“Next to Me”
High school senior, Tyson-Law Averkamp, lives in a small town called Barnstable, Massachusetts, and has recently been diagnosed with terminal cancer. His best friend Castle Montgomery is shocked by the news and encourages Tyson to experience life to the fullest before he passes on. The two go on an adventure before his time comes. This isn’t his funeral, but the celebration of Tyson’s life.
Part 1 - The Diagnosis
Tyson and his parents are at the hospital when they receive the news that Tyson does not have much time left. Upon receiving a CAT scan he lit up like the constellations of the night sky. He does not feel any pain — yet.
Scene 2 - Castle Montgomery
Tyson didn’t want things to change just because he was diagnosed with a terrible disease, he just wanted to live a normal life, but his best friend, Castle Montgomery, wasn’t going to let that happen. Castle tries to convince Tyson they need to get out and live life to the fullest while he still has a chance to.
Scene 3 - The Experiences
Since Tyson doesn’t have much time left, he starts to cross some do-able lines off of his bucket list. From partying, to just looking off at a beautiful sunset, Tyson wanted to do everything he could to make his life worth living.
Scene 4 - Time to say goodbye
The time has finally come to say one last goodbye. As Tyson and Castle’s adventures come an end, Tyson is rushed to the hospital due to his illness.
Scene 5 - Funeral
Castle speaks his eulogy. The two were the best of friends and now that his brother has passed, Castle is heartbroken. There were a couple things that Tyson requested that Castle does after he passes. Castle tries to cope with the loss of Tyson.
Meet the Cast
Tyson-Law Averkamp
How wonderful life was while he was in the world. Tyson may have died young at 18 but he lived a life others could only dream of having. With a roof over his head, food on the table, a bed to sleep in, and loving parents, there was nothing else he could have wanted in life. He has decided to donate his corneas upon his death.
Castle Montgomery
The charismatic best friend to Tyson, they do everything together. Castle and Tyson had been friends since they were kids, living right across the street from each other. The two were always getting in to trouble and going on adventures, but most importantly, always had each others backs no matter what.
The Doctor
With her PhD from Harvard Medical, she was able to quickly determine the pancreatic diagnosis.
